"Crime and Punishment"

Searching the books
A bare leaf falls from
“Crime And Punishment”

PS: I have the habit of keeping leafs and colourful feathers inside books.

Achilles Heals

Achilles Heals

Lit at both ends*
A candle burns within
The evanescent flame
Dancing to a nightly
Tune, in the dark
Haunted corridors
Where shadows
Merge and maul
In some sprightly
Fervour…

My eyes too tired
I close the lids as
The flimsy window-blinds
A yellow light filters through
And, in my scant memory
In the silent shift of thoughts
I seek your face, Achilles,
My Greek hero, Son of
Sea nymph Thetis.
Your father – Peleus
Just one of those mortals
For whom you fought,
Who fed upon your valour
Your dreams…

I seek you, Achilles
You, who was awaken
From a morning dream
To fight for the land
You, who left your mother
To fight for a woman,
Not of yours, but
Of the King
Fighting wars you
Lost your brethren,
Yourself, and then to
Find all in a woman
And, then to
Lose her

I seek you, Achilles
You, who taught me,
That mortality of the feet
Could mean nothing
But absolute death...
That life on earth was
All about movement,
And the war within
Oneself…

I seek you, Achilles
You, who died fighting,
A war for the woman,
Who ‘gave you peace
In a life time of war'
And yet again, I seek
The power in you
Victor of all wars, who
Taught me that love
Was to be severed
As a parting kiss,
In death…wishing
The best of life
To those who
Live on…

PS: *The candle within is lit at both sides-- one directed towards the world, and one to my inner self.
** The verse is just inspired by 2004 movie Troy…& it has been in me since I wrote a review for the movie for a US client that year.
*** In no way does the verse mean that I am sad, or my love for the world is severed, or I am ‘dead’ ;-)
These PSs are a nuissance, I know. Yet, its better to have them and not be subjected to uncalled for readings.
